Beyond Color: Art Bit Exercise #2

This week’s tutorial explores the technique of wet-on-dry acrylic painting. Its effects are different than last week’s wet-in-wet painting. (If you haven’t already, check out Art Bit Exercise #1. It’s free!)

Art Bit Exercise #2 Video has two exercises, the first exercise explores wet-on-dry painting with tints and shades and the second exercise, how to blend them for interesting effect. First, subscribe for access to this video. The suggested price is $15 per video, but you can pay what you are able to pay. Click on Vimeo in bottom right corner to enlarge.

This last year, during a once-in-a-century pandemic, our lives have shifted. I have found painting to be a solace to work through some of that pain and discomfort or just as an escape that brings joy. No artistic knowledge or experience needed with abstract expressionism…just a willingness to explore and play with paint.

I am a fiscal year 2021 recipient of a Creative Support to Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

I am an Abstract Expressionist acrylic painter. Abstract Expressionism is aimed at subjective emotional expression with a particular emphasis on the creative spontaneous act of painting. I love interpreting music with paint, specifically choral and orchestral music, but I am open to whatever moves me to see color, movement and texture. Beyond Color: Using Paint to Heal, Create & Grow is a painting tutorial series in abstract expressionism aimed specifically at beginners and non-artists who need a creative outlet to give themselves a lift, a way to express whatever they are feeling with color. Beyond Color: Art Blog posts are my brief reflections on the 12 x 12" painting created in each demo, which will also be for sale. To see my latest work, check out my Gallery page. Thanks for visiting Beyond Color!
