Beyond Color: Painting Tutorial #1

Welcome to Beyond Color: Using Paint to Heal, Create & Grow! Join me in exploring your thoughts and feelings using paint. Sometimes it helps to just get that stuff out on a piece of paper or canvas. From personal experience, I am a firm believer that color heals and painting helps! I will lead you with exercises in acrylic painting, teaching art elements, concepts and different painting techniques in the world of abstract expressionism, a vehicle to explore your thoughts and feelings with color & more.

Abstract Expressionism is not about drawing or painting something in a realistic way, rather it is about using the Elements of Art: Color, Line, Shape, Texture, Space & Form and Art Concepts: Balance, Emphasis, Harmony, Movement, Pattern, Proportion, Rhythm, Unity, and Variety to express what is inside of you.

Start with the Welcome and work your way down with Favorite Art Materials, Art Bit #1 and A Bird’s Eye View Demo #1. The rest of the videos are in the pull down menu at the upper right under Beyond Color: Blogposts & Tutorials.

I am an Abstract Expressionist acrylic painter. Abstract Expressionism is aimed at subjective emotional expression with a particular emphasis on the creative spontaneous act of painting. I love interpreting music with paint, specifically choral and orchestral music, but I am open to whatever moves me to see color, movement and texture. Beyond Color: Using Paint to Heal, Create & Grow is a painting tutorial series in abstract expressionism aimed specifically at beginners and non-artists who need a creative outlet to give themselves a lift, a way to express whatever they are feeling with color. Beyond Color: Art Blog posts are my brief reflections on the 12 x 12" painting created in each demo, which will also be for sale. To see my latest work, check out my Gallery page. Thanks for visiting Beyond Color!
